Offer to Organize ‘Water Police’ in South Azerbaijan

It was proposed to establish a “Water Police Corps” in order to prevent the health and safety of the community from falling into danger due to the decrease in quality of drinking water due to the recent drought in Iran.

Babek Mahbub Alilu, Deputy Director of the Social Assistance and Crimes Prevention Department of the Eastern Azerbaijan State Prosecutor’s Office, according to ISNA (Iranian Student News Agency), spoke at a meeting of the Committee on the Prevention of Crimes Against Public Health in Tabriz city and talked about the water crisis in the country, he said that this situation puts public health at risk.

Especially Azerbaijanis, who have been disturbed by Urmia Lake in recent years due to its drought, are very sensitive to environmental and water issues.

Alilu, “Drought has reduced water quality. The committee’s primary task is to prevent crimes against public health. In this area, the water police organization needs to be established to prevent this crimes. ”

Iran’s Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Jesus Kelanteri, said in his statement in 2016 that 50 million people in the country would have to migrate abroad if the misapplication of agricultural lands continued in the irrigation system.
