Water levels are alarming across Iran, which leaves Urmia Lake to dry and not be given importance.

As the water level in the dams did not meet the domestic consumption due to the decrease of precipitation and drought, Iran was warned about drought crisis.

As the water consumption in the country is more than the water flowing into the dams, the situation of the dams in Iran is facing the critical conditions, ”said Mohammad Hajj Resuliha, General Manager of the Iranian Water Resources Management Company.

Speaking to Iranian Students News Agency Resuliha stated that, the amount of water filled to the dams 33 percent less compared to last year.

Resuliha said that the amount of water in the dams was measured as 32 billion cubic meters last year and fell to 25 billion cubic meters this year. On the one hand, surface water and on the other hand we are faced with the decrease of groundwater. The rate of precipitation is below expectations.
