Iran’s State Minister of Defense Emir Hatemi has conveyed that over 130 companies in the transportation, energy and construction sectors within the Iranian Armed Forces are closed.

The worsening of the economic crisis from day to day damaged the state and the army, the richest country in the region.

Hatemi, who made the press statement, announced that the Armed Forces aimed to reduce the effectiveness of the economy.
“We have closed more than 130 companies serving in the economy and construction sectors,” Hatemi said, referring to the fact that many of the companies that were assigned to the Armed Forces during the previous governments were transferred to the private sector.

Hatemi stated that they are ready to transfer the Tehran-Mashhad Electric Railway Project to the private sector with the Isfahan-Shiraz Motorway Project, which is completed by 72 percent of the companies in the Armed Forces, and that the “Wagon Pars” and “Iran Air Tour” registered.

In an interview with the Iranian Newspaper in January, Defense Minister Hatemi announced that Iran’s religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ordered the withdrawal of the Armed Forces from economic activities.

Iranian President Hasan Ruhani has also called for the Armed Forces to terminate their economic activities many times, particularly to the Revolutionary Guards Army.

Parliament Vice-President Ali Mutahhari also asked the military to terminate the economic activities of the Armed Forces as soon as possible, indicating that the economic activities of the soldiers caused the rant and irregularities.
