First sanctions related impulse came from Japan

The first responseto the United States to the ‘definitive’ call of relations to its allies under sanctions imposed on Iran came from Japan. Japanese banks will abide by the call of the United States and will end their banking transactions with all Iranian-affiliated financial institutions until 4th of November.

According to the Kyodo news agency, Mitsubishi UFJ and Mizuho, Japan’s largest banks, will stop banking operations with all financial institutions linked to Iran starting August 12th.

The banks announced that they will cut off all of their financial ties with Tehran until 4th of November, when US sanctions on Iran will come into force.

The US administration announced that it would put sanctions on Iran after its withdrawal from the nuclear deal and asked its allies to end their financial ties with Iran by November.
