Governor of East Azerbaijan: There is no money to revive Urmu Lake
Majid Hudabash, the governor of East Azerbaijan, said the Iranian government did not have a budget to revive Urmu Lake and that its hopes remained on credit and foreign financing.
In an interview with the “Young Journalists'” Correspondent, the governor said, “It is still important to use foreign funding sources to revive Urmu Lake. In this context, the Iranian Environmental Agency is negotiating with foreign investors, “.
Urmu Lake Animation Center proposed 24 ways out for the revitalization of the lake. The governor of East Azerbaijan said that none of the 24 projects were implemented.
In response to a question about the water flows from the Araz River to Urmu Lake, he said, “It is impossible to implement it because there is very little budget funding.”
So far the Lake Urmi Animation Center have received investment proposals for the revitalization of the lake from Turkey, South Korea and Germany.
The Iranian regime, which spends billions of dollars in conflicts in the Middle East, is not affected by the Urmu Lake crisis that threatens lives of millions of people in South Azerbaijan and does not allocate budgetary funds for rescue it. Authorities at Urmu Lake Animation Center said tha some of the projects were canceled and some were left unfinished, so there was no resources for the project. The condition of the lake is getting worse every day.
