Water shortage at the critical point in Eastern Azerbaijan
The spokesman of the Regional Water İnstitution in Eastern Azerbaijan Province said that the water shortage has become critical.
Muctaba Calilzadeh voiced it at the Binab Water Conservation Council meeting.
“İn the last two years Precipitation decreased by 46 percent, while the temperature increased by 6.1 percent. This, of course, caused evaporation, humidity and increased water consumption. We can not fill the dams with rainfall. Water entering the dams is only used for consumption. For this reason, although there is enough water for drinking water, we are experiencing a water shortage in the agricultural sector. ”
The Deputy Director of Water Use and Preservation of the Regional Water Company emphasized the impact of the water crisis on the agricultural sector in the region. “Water scarcity has limited autumn crops. If precipitation continues to fall we will also limit summer crops. It is unavaidable that we will suffer more from the water shortage, ” Calilzadeh said.
