Water Crysis in Iran has Reached Desperate Point
Iranian parliament speaker Hidayetullah Hadimi, who informed the Iranian Parliament News Agency ICANA, called to “take measures against water crisis and environmental problems in Huzistan region”.
Hadimi said, “The water and electricity disturbance in Huzistan region and the drought of the water resources and the environmental problems are grave.”
Saying that the problems in Huzistan region caused the public reaction, Hadimi stated that in Hürremşehr city, the people were taking measures after protesting the water problem but that the situation in Ize and Bagmulk cities was much worse.
Recalling that the cities were given water for a certain period of time, Hadimi expressed that the water needs of the people could not be met in this way.
The Iranian lawmaker also used the phrase “Water delivery to the region should be the priority of President Hasan Ruhani,” in the near future, in the direction of Huzistan’s north-east water crisis to be even more serious.
Drought in Iran due to precipitation and the reduction of water resources is causing the water crisis in the country. People also have to buy water from the tankers because of the salt water running from the tap.
In Hurremshehr and Abadan cities of Husizstan province, south of Iran, the people had organized demonstrations to protest the water issue.
