Early election in Turkey to be held in November

Araz News: Early parliamentary election in Turkey will be held in November, a source in the government of Turkey said in an exclusive interview with Trend Aug.13.Currently, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) is preparing for early parliamentary election, according to the source.

It is expected that the Turkish parliament will appoint the exact date of early parliamentary election in late August, said the source.

The final meeting of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu with the head of the opposition Republican People’s Party Kemal Kilicdaroglu took place today, on Aug.13, in Turkey.

The opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) and the Justice and Development Party (AKP) failed to agree on the formation of a coalition government.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Aug. 13 that early parliamentary election will be held in Turkey.

It was earlier reported that the Turkish opposition Republican People’s Party put forward the final terms for the formation of a coalition government with the Justice and Development Party.

One of the opposition’s demands is that the members of the Republican People’s Party must head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education.

The final round of negotiations between the Justice and Development Party and the Republican People’s Party on the formation of a coalition government took place in Turkey Aug.3.

Turkey held parliamentary election June 7, which involved 20 political parties. Over 53 million people cast their votes in the election.

During the parliamentary election, Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party garnered 40.9 percent of the vote, while the Republican People’s Party (CHP) gained 25 percent; aside from that the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) got 16.3 percent, and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) garnered 13.1 percent of the vote.
