Analysis: Racism in the highest levels of the Iranian State
The racist statements were published in, related to president Ruhani, so-called reformist newspaper of Tehran «Kanun». It attracted the reaction of non-Persian nations in the country.
On April 21, the newspaper made an interview with the deputy , Ali Yunisi. In the interview, the former “intelligence minister” and the current “presidents assistant on issues of the ethnic minorities” Ali Yunisi said:
“There is only one ethnicity in Iran, and most non-Persian ethnicities actually have Persian origin.”
“Azerbaijanis are actually not Turks but Persian and they have been speaking in Turkish for only 300 to 400 years. The Turkish spoken in Azerbaijan has lost its Turkish features and became more Persian. ”
“Other ethnicities, such as the Kurds, the Punjabi and the Gilekis, are also of Persian origin.”
“Arabs who are citizens of Iran are Persian as well, according to some experts.”
“It is normal for Persians in Iran to make more use of opportunities since they are in the majority.”
End quote.
These words are in fact a clear explanation of why President Ruhani made a former minister of intelligence an ethnic minority assistant.
In Iran, racism has become a deep-rooted disease among the Persian society, and almost every day examples of open racism take place in state institutions, the official media and society. If the top ethnic minority rulers in the country use such clear racist expressions, there is no longer any need to prove the organized and state-driven racism propaganda in Iran.
The reaction of the non-Persian nations to every part of the racist speech of his deputy was outrageous.
The virtual environment and social media were filled with negative reactions to these words, and those reactions reached the country council. 50 Turkish deputies, protested against the words of Yunisi in the letter they wrote to Hasan Ruhani.
After years of struggle of non-Persian nations, the top officials of the country still clearly deny all ethnic minority in the country. They do not even make a single mention of the abandoned national and human rights of these people and make up the lie that the Persians are the ethnic majority, . In this case, there is no things left for non-Persian nations other than to draw their own way for the national identity.
