Araz News: South Azerbaijan Student day was celebrated by Azerbaijan’s national movement activists and South Azerbaijan students on the 8th of May.

On May 8, 1995, Iran Turks students from Tehran, Tabriz, Urmia and other cities protested to the racist questionnaire of IRIB Broadcasting which humiliated and insulted South Azerbaijani people.

The student faced with severe repression by Iran’s Security forces and many students were arrested On May 8, 1995.

In a questionnaire published by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) The following questions had been raised:

1) If you want to get married someday, are you willing to get the marriage with a Turk person?

2) If you have a girl  and someday wants to marry her, would you marry her with a Turk man?

3) To participate in some special events like Ashura, are you willing to participate in events of the Turks?

4) If you have a Turkish neighbor, would you participate in any ceremony of your Turkish neighbor?

5) Are you willing to be partner with someone who is a Turk?

6) Would you like to be a neighborhood where the majority of them are Turk?

7) Would you like to have communication with someone who is a Turk and hospitalize him to your house?

It can be clearly seen that the questionnaire published by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) contained the peak of racism, ethnic hatred, ridicule and contempt for Turk people who are living in Iran’s geographical.

After this event, 8^th of May was registered as South Azerbaijan student day in the national calendar of South Azerbaijan.
