Araz News: South Azerbaijan football team ‘Tractor Sazi Tabriz ‘ won against Al Jazira football team in its first game with the result of 4-0 .

Al Jazira endured a miserable start to their AFC Asian Champions League Group C campaign on Wednesday, like their Arabian Gulf League rivals Al Nasr the night before, after being hammered 4-0 away by South Azerbaijani  outfit Tractor Sazi Tabriz.

The Pride of Abu Dhabi had travelled to Iran in high spirits after a recent domestic revival, but were no match for their powerful opponents.

The same can be said for Al Nasr, who on Thursday also toiled in Iran, succumbing 2-0 to Sepahan in Group A.

This left Al Ain with the UAE’s sole chance of salvation in the opening round of the ACL, with Zlatko Dalic’s men due to host Qatar’s El Jaish in Group D on Wednesday evening.

Bakhtiar Rahmani’s brace (4 and 59) and a goal apiece from Shoja Khalilzadeh (9) and Mahdi Sharifi (54) had earlier helped Tractor Sazi mow down Al Jazira.

Meanwhile, Ivan Jovanovic, the Al Nasr coach, conceded his side “truly deserved” to lose to Sepahan.

The Iranians last featured in the AFC Champions League in 2011, when they reached the quarter-finals a year after losing to Seongnam Ilhwa in the final in Tokyo, but the Isfahan-based side were too strong for their Dubai opponents.

In Tuesday’s other Group A game, Sardor Mirzaev scored a late equaliser as Uzbekistan’s Lokomotiv secured a 1-1 draw with Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia.

Thus, the South Azerbaijani football team ‘Tractor Sazi Tabriz’ With  getting three points of the game stands on top of the C group in AFC Champions League .
