Here is the reward letter to Ms. Fariba Vafi by Institute the German LITPROM.
The voting for the LiBeraturpreis 2017 has ended and we are very pleased to announce the award. The audience goes to the Iranian writer Faribā Vafī, who with her novel »Tarlan« (Sujet Verlag 2015) convinced the readers.
The World’s Best Jury: In Iran the Shah has abdicated, the country is in a state of upheaval. Also the young Tarlan seeks their way in the upheavals. Rather, because of frustration, she becomes a police officer. What looks like a flight to the front turns out to be a subterranean survey of the generation of revolution and its role models from a woman’s point of view. A silent novel that has it in itself. We sincerely congratulate and thank Ms. Fariba Vafi for active participation.
