Araz News: Nader Gazipour, parliamentarian of Urmia in Iranian parliament, in a press interview said: “The only investment by the government in our province was the sugar factory of Miandoab which was made by Defense Minister. Except that the government has not done anything in 80 years to solve the unemployment problem and economic crises”.

Oyrenci Sesi website quoted Mr. Gazipour, a member of Industry and Mines Commission of the Parliament, that “In the last years the officials prevented the industry from entering to West Azerbaijan saying our province is an agriculture region and in this way paralyzed one leg of the region’s economy. Then their carelessness caused Lake Urima’s drying problem and in this way they shoot the last bullet to the province’s life. They destroyed the farmers who were earning the life hardly”.

He added: “Against government’s obstructions local investors tried to build some industrial units based on agricultural products. But drying of Lake Urmia ruined everything. Now 3 million people are going to be jobless. Government must dedicate additional budget to compensate the past fault. This is not anything but people’s right”.
