Araz News: 1811 South Azerbaijani university students have written a letter to Iranian president Mr. Rouhani underlining the demand of education in Azerbaijani Turkish in state schools and recognizing Azerbaijani Turkish as official language.

According to South Azerbaijani sources students from universities in Azerbaijani cities of Tabriz, Urmia, Zanjan, Ardabil, Kaleibar, Maragheh and Meshkin Shahr have signed this letter.

In the letter Azerbaijani Turk students have demanded education in Azerbaijani Turkish, recognition of Turkish language and enforcement of 3th, 15^th and 19^th items of constitution.

Also sources report security forces have detained at last one activist of this campaign and also have seized some signature papers in some universities.

Note that during presidential election campaign Mr. Rouhani premised to start education in Azerbaijani Turkish and open Azerbaijani Turkish language institute but has not kept none of them yet.
