Araz News: Nader Ghazipour, parliamentarian of Urmia, capital of West Azerbaijan Province, in Iran’s parliament said there is a conspiracy against West Azerbaijan Province. “Some Kurdish parties claim Urmia is a part of great Kurdistan and some others put Urmia in great Armenia’s map. But Urmia always has been capital of West Azerbaijan and West Azerbaijan is a part and head of Iran” he added.

Pointing to recent investment plans in by Urmia by Iraqi Kurd investors he stressed: “We are monitoring some devil plots, we are awake and will not allow to some ones to decide about Urmia via dirty monies”.

Note that in the recent months municipality of Urmia has signed some treaties with north Iraqi Kurdish companies on big investments in Urmia. Within the treaties city hall is committed to sell vast land parts to the Kurdish companies. It is known that these companies are very close to Barzani Family, a ruling family of Iraqi Kurdistan. The treaties have driven severe reaction of local Azerbaijani people. Local people are concerned about the territorial claims of Kurdish nationalists and Kurdish armed groups about West Azerbaijan.
