Araz News: The state run Jam-e Jam newspaper of Iran cleaned Azerbaijan’s name from Atletico Madrid football club’s shirts in a report it passed.

Government of Republic of Azerbaijan has signed a sponsorship agreement with Spanish Atletico Madrid Club and as part of deal the phrase “Azerbaijan; Land of Fire” is printed on the football team’s shirts.

While the Persian nationalists of Iran oppose all features of Azerbaijani Turkic entity, in a report in sports page, Jam-e Jam newspaper, which is ruled by Iranian state TV and radio administration, cleaned Azerbaijan’s name from the club’s shirts.

This unethical behavior of Iranian state media, once more, demonstrated the chauvinist character of Iranian government, as well as the Farsi-speaking intellectuals.

This apparent racist attitude attracted a severe reaction in social media.
