Detained South Azerbaijani Activists Are in Hard Situation
Araz News: South Azerbaijani right activists in Evin Prison in Tehran, who were detained on 21st February 2014, the International Mother Tongue Day, are in hard situation. Reportedly they are being mistreated while some are suffering health problems. Especially Akbar Azad, Alireza Farshi and Behnam Sheikhi are not experiencing good health conditions. Mr. Akbar Azad, a veteran activist for collective rights of Azerbaijani community in Iran suffers hard stomach disease.
Dozens of Azerbaijani activists were arrested in a ceremony related to International Mother Tongue Day in Tehran. Most of them were released on bail but six persons; Akbar Azad, Alireza Farshi, Behnam Sheikhi, Hamid Manafi Nadarli, Mahmoud Ojaqlou and Rostam Kazempour are still in jail.
