Security forces put pressure on veteran South Azerbaijani rights activist Mr. Hassan Damirchi.
The Iranian HRANA website (Human Rights Activists News Agency) reports that after Mr. Damirchi had returned to Tabriz from Republic of Azerbaijan Iranian security forces have put pressure on him.
HRANA’s report is as below:
“Hassan Damirchi, famous musician in Azerbaijan Mogham music, after being awarded an “Appreciation Bred” by Azerbaijan Republic, and returning to Iran, is under pressure by the Security Froces.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Hassan Damirchi, famous master of Azerbaijan traditional music, who travelled one month ago to Azerbaijan Republic, to take part in a music seminar, after returning to Iran, about 2 months ago, was questioned at the country’s entrances and his passport was taken and he was told that he will be contacted by the related office.
During last week, police intelligence office, in Saeb Street in Tabriz, contacted this artist and at least 2 times summoned him to their office and interrogated him. Also, they asked for his “Appreciation Bred” which he was given by Azerbaijan Republic and another one that he was awarded in Turkey. However, Mr Damirchi opposed this and he asked them to stop this illegal process.
According to the reports, Mr Damirchi asked the police force Intelligence in charge that, if he has done any offences or crimes, then the law enforcement authorities should follow the case in a legal procedure and these pressures are not acceptable and justifiable.
It should be mentioned that, Hassan Hargoli (Hassan Agha Azerbaijan) 72, veteran Azerbaijani artist, had already spent 6 months in Tabriz prison on charge of propaganda against the regime.
Naghi Mahmoodi, his solicitor in that case, stated that he was acquitted by the Supreme Court of his charges, but he has not been allowed to activate his music academy (Azerbaijan Music Academy) where was closed in 2006 when he was arrested.”

Naser Abdolhosseinzadeh imprisoned in Meshkinshahr
South Azerbaijani activist Naser Abdolhosseinzadeh has been detained and transferred to prison of Meshkinshar, East Azerbaijan province, while he was serving his compulsory military service term in Tabriz, on 24th January 2015.
Mr. Naser Abdolhosseinzadeh was sentenced by 1st branch of revolutionary court of Pars Abad-e Moghan to 6 months in prison on charge of propaganda against regime. He and another South Azerbaijani activist named Said Hosseini were arrested by security forces when they were distributing leaflets related to cultural and linguistic rights of Azerbaijani Turks in Iran. They were arrested on 17th February 2014 in city of Pars Abad-e Moghan.
They were temporarily released on heavy bails after they were in jail for one month. Reportedly they were severely tortured while interrogation during that one month.
