Kazan the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2014
Having hosted countless events throughout the year, Eskisehir, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2013, has given over this prestigious title to Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan in an impressive ceremony held on March 21st, 2014 .
The celebrations gathering nearly five hundred artists from thirty countries were attended by thousands of spectators and reached out to an audience of nearly 300 million people via television broadcasting.
The handover ceremony of the title of Cultural Capital of the Turkic World took place in the presence of TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov along with Mr. Gungor Azim Tuna, the Governor of Eskisehir, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2013, and the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan (RF) Ayrat Sibagatullin who was handed over the statue of Cultural Capital of the Turkic World by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Prof. Dr. Emrullah Isler.
Prior to this handover ceremony, TURKSOY opened a photography exhibition featuring pictures of Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan in order to introduce this beautiful city and country of the Russian Federation to all guests attending the event.
The photography exhibition featuring pictures of Kazan was inaugurated at the Anatolian University in Eskisehir by TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov, the Minister of Education of the Republic of Turkey Nabi Avcı and the Governor of ve Eskisehir Gungor Azim Tuna on March 20th, 2014 and was strongly appreciated by all guests who visited it including nearly 300 journalists from the Turkic World.
The city of Kazan which is the third capital of the Russian Federation and was declared Sports’ Capital in 2009 will be the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in 2014, thus hosting many colourful events throughout 2014 as the meeting point of the Turkic World this year.
