Azerbaijan and Iran will sign 10 documents during the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Baku, the Co-chair of the Azerbaijani-Iranian State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation Mahmoud Vaezi said Nov. 5.
He made the remarks at a press conference in Tehran, according to the official website of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
The preparation of 10 documents prior to President Rouhani’s official visit to Baku will be discussed during Vaezi’s 2-day visit to Azerbaijan, which is to kick off Nov. 6, according to the report.
Vaezi said the documents to be signed will mainly cover the purchase of electricity from Azerbaijan, use of border rivers, simplification of customs procedures, and expansion of cooperation in cargo transportation, gas, energy, tourism and trade sectors.
He said favorable conditions for cooperation have been created between the two countries following the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Iran.
“As part of the visit to Azerbaijan, Hassan Rouhani plans to deliver speech at the parliament, and meet with representatives of the private and industrial sectors,” Vaezi said.
He added that during the visit, the Iranian president will be accompanied by representatives of the private sector of the West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Ardabil and Gilan provinces.
Vaezi also noted that Rouhani’s visit is an important step for future development of relations with Azerbaijan.
