Human Rights Situation Got Worse in Iran in the Past Year: Ahmed Shaheed
Araz News: On October 27, 2014 UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Ahmed Shaheed held a press conference to preview his 2014 report on human rights in Iran and to answer questions from reporters.
In the press conference he stressed that human rights situation has gotten worse in Iran during the past year and human rights violations such as death penalty, torture, ban on speech, opinion and association freedoms continues. He stated that during the three and a half years that he has been the Special Rapporteur on Iran the Iranian government has not allowed him into the country and he cannot directly contact the Iranian citizens inside the country.
