Araz News: South Azerbaijani sources report thousands of people have participated in anti-terrorism protest demonstration in Urmia, West Azerbaijan, on Thursday, 16^th October. But Iranian police has cracked down on demonstrators and stopped the nonviolent demonstration by force.

Eye witnesses say at least 10 thousand people took part in demonstration and that the police at least two times stopped the demonstrators beating and arresting them, in Velayat Square and Khayyam Street. Despite police’s confrontation people managed to make short rallies and sound slogans against terrorism.

According the reports more than 30 people have been detained and taken to unknown place. Name of three of the detainees are Ata Karimi, Sajjad Mousavi and Amir Baggali. Police commander of Urmia has beaten Mr. Ata karimi very severely in front of people and who protested his treatment was detained.

Iranian police is cracking down on nonviolent demonstration of Azerbaijani people against terrorism while during the last week supporters of PKK and PJAK terror organizations at least three times made demonstrations in Urmia’s suburban neighborhoods under the Iranian police’s safeguard.

Iranian regime’s double standard causes outrage of Azerbaijani people who believe the Iranian regime is playing terrorist groups card against them.

At the same time in a spontaneously formed demonstration after a football match in Ardabil city (South Azerbaijan’s third biggest) Azerbaijani people gave support to Urmia protesters.

The outrage of Azerbaijani people against armed terrorist organizations has risen up recently because supporters of terror organization are repeatedly making demonstrations in West Azerbaijan cities.

The rally aims to condemn activities of terrorist organization such as PKK and its Iranian branch PEJAK as well as the terrorist IS.

Note that provocations of armed terrorist organizations, who try to abuse the Kurdish minority of the region, has a long history and goes back to second half of the 19th century.

Recent bloody activities of Iranian branch of PKK, which is announced as a terrorist organization by UN, EU and US; is a major concern of Azerbaijani people.

Within the past weeks and after assaults on Kobani city in Syria by the terrorist IS, supporters of PKK in West Azerbaijan have widened their activities for so called support for Kobani, but actually they see the case of Kobani as an opportunity to make propaganda for terrorist PKK and its PEJAK.
