Atiye Taheri Joined Her Husband, Said Matinpour’s Hunger Strike
Araz News: Atiye Taheri began hunger strike to support her husband Said Matinpour.
In a massage posted on her facebook page she wrote:
“Since 25th May 2007 I judged myself many times. I do not have an acceptable success on defending you. I only waited for your freedom. But I have no more choice but to join your hunger strike.”
South Azerbaijani journalist and human rights activist Said Matinpour is serving 8 year imprisonment verdict in Evin Prison in Tehran. He has been deprived of his legal lrights and is mistreated in prison years because of defending his opinion and values.
In a recent raid taken place by prison guardians and plain clothes agents to Ward 350 of the Evin Prison –ward of the political prisoners- Said Matinpour was hardly beaten, injured and transferred to solitary confinement. He has begun hunger strike to objet unlawful and inhuman attitude of the officials.
During all these years his spouse Atiye Taheri, stood with him resisting and struggling against all persecution and cruelties. She made whatever possible to support her husband.
Said and Atiye have became icons of National Movement of South Azerbaijan.
