South Azerbaijani Activists Sentenced to 6 Months in Prison
Araz News: South Azerbaijani activist Bagher Ebrahim Pour has been sentenced to 6 Months in Prison by the 2. branch of revolutionary court of Tabriz. Earlier he was summoned to the court and was released on a bail of 2 billion Rials.
Mr. Ebrahim Pour is charged of making propaganda against Islamic regime and organizing illegal group.
Mr. Ebrahim Pour is a manager in “Lachin” group. Tabriz based minors NGO group “Lachin” performs traditional Azerbaijani dance and music. Group’s activities were prevented of participating in a festival in Istanbul city in neighboring Turkey.
Iranian Ministry of Intelligence (Ettelaat) has not allowed South Azerbaijani minors group to participate in festival in Istanbul.
The group was planning to participate in 20th Children of Turkic World Festival which is held from 28th May 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey.
Iranian regime considers Azerbaijani culture and civilization as a threat for Iranian statehood which is based on Persian ethnical identity. Islamic republic of Iran does everything possible to restrict and inactivate Turkic entity in Iran.
