Novruz Feast Celebration

“Nevruz” is celebrated for thousands of years as Turks’ national holiday, also called “Departure from Ergenokon”, “Spring Festival”, “New Year’s Day” in every region of the Turkish world. The Turks (Gokturks) represent the eradication of the mountain from Ergenekon, the rise of spring, the awakening of nature. It is celebrated annually by the Turkish tribes and communities from the East Turkestan to the Balkans, from the 8th century BC to the present day. According to research that made about ancient Chinese Calendar by Chinese Professor Dr. Ch’in-Chung-Main, old Turkish tribes “Ti” who lived in 8th century were using a calendar called Nung-li, which was organized according to both the moon and the sun, and considered the March as the New Year. In the “Göktürk Missive” section of Chou Sülalesin’s history, it is said that “Göktürks celebrate the time when plants grow green.” In the republics of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, Novruz was declared a national holiday after the disintegration of the Soviet Union. Since 1992, Nevruz Festival is celebrated in a wide range of activities in all Turkish republics. Celebrations are held in the largest squares of the republics, with the participation of state officials. The games are played, the national dances are performed, the songs are sung, the open Novruz table is prepared and the festival is celebrated enthusiastically with the participation of all the people. Novruz Feast has been celebrated among all Turkish peoples for at least twelve thousand years as the day of unity, fraternity, friendship, freedom and new year. Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, East Turkistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tatarstan, Çuvaşistan the Novruz celebrated on March 21. This holiday is a means of strengthening friendship, brotherhood and peace. The “land bazaar”, which is the last of the “four bazaars” in the Azerbaijani tradition and similar to the belief of the cemetery in Anatolia, is given great importance in this country and the arrival of the bazaar before Novruz is celebrated as a feast the day before. It is time when water is sprinkled around the house, the fire burns in the streets, and houses burn candles for every individual .
