Araz News: On 16th of Sept 2016, Tractor Sazi Tabriz with victory over Zob-Ahan went to the top of the table in the Premier League of Iran.

According to Araz News agency, the Sixth Week Premier League competition, Tractor Sazi of South Azerbaijan and Zob-Ahan football team met at Foolad Shahr Stadium.

‘Zob-Ahan’ mown down by ‘Tractor Sazi Tabriz’ with the result of (2-1). The goals of the game scored by Ali Hamam for Zob-Ahan (68^th min) and Mohammad Iranpourian (39^th min- penalty) and Sina Ashouri (74^th min) for Tractorsazi of South Azerbaijan.

Thus, the South Azerbaijani football team ‘Tractor Sazi Tabriz’ With  getting three points of the game stands on top of the Premier League of Iran.

Tractor Sazi Azerbaijan, or Trakhtur as it is known the local Turkish dialect, has become the unofficial team of South Azerbaijan and serves as a point of pride for Azerbaijani national identity in Iran. Azerbaijani-Turks gather in the tens of thousands for each game to not only support their team, but also to chant national slogans calling for self-determination as well as greater linguistic and cultural rights. It is quite common for Azerbaijani activists to be arrested during Tractor Sazi matches.
