Hundreds of Afghan nationals arrested in Iran and South Azerbaijan
Araz News: The police forces have started a new wave of arrests and harassment against Afghan immigrants. They have arrested many Afghan illegal-immigrants in different cities in Iran, including Mashhad, Varamin, Isfahan and Shiraz and in many different parts of South Azerbaijan (Sofiyan, Bostanabad, Maki and Khoy).
More than 250 people were arrested only in Golshahr. More than 90% of them are active workers, which are among the poorest and most vulnerable classes of the society, HRANA reported.
According to reliable sources, one of the arrests is a father who had lost his son in Syria.
Unfortunately, the behavior of police with the immigrants was “cruel, humiliating and inhumane”.
The behavior of Iran’s police with illegal Afghan immigrants always has been criticized by the human rights organizations.
The official website Of Justice of Azerbaijan has announced that 51 Afghans have been arrested in the Bostanabad city of South Azerbaijan.
Chief Justice of Bostanabad city said that these people are Afghanistan citizens who were traveling by track to the Urmia. Police fired several bullets to truck with citizens and finally they Were stoped and arrested.
