Iranian Foreign Ministry discourages Iranians from traveling to Turkey by land

Araz News:  The Iranian Foreign Ministry in a statement urged Iranians not to travel to the neighbor country Turkey by land until further notice.

Due to recent security issues in eastern Turkey, it is suggested that Iranians do not take land roads to travel to Turkey, the announcement read, Trend reported August 8.

The day earlier, an Iranian bus was attacked inside Turkish soil and the driver killed.
Heading from Iranian border checkpoint Bazargan to Turkey’s Van with 15 passengers, the bus had been attacked in an area called Chaldoran around 5:00, in the course of which the driver was shot in the head.

Earlier than that, two Turkish trucks had been put on fire by unknown people around the same area.

In another recent incident, two trains traveling between Iran and Turkey had been also attacked, including one instance of mining the railroad, where a train crew was injured and some wagons damaged.

Turkey has launched an anti-terror crackdown after the July 20 Suruc bombing that killed 32 activists and the attacks on security forces in the following days.

Ankara has detained more than 1,300 suspected supporters of groups such as Daesh and PKK — recognized as terrorist groups by Turkey, as well as launching airstrikes on Daesh in Syria and the PKK in Turkey and northern Iraq.

The attacks have drawn backlash from the PKK which called them violation of a ceasefire that had lasted for more than two years.
