500 Iranian workers continue strike into 3rd week
Araz News: Over 500 workers with the Karoon cement company in Iran’s Khoozestan Province are continuing their strike for the third week.
The workers are demanding their due wages and benefits of the past 3 months, ILNA news agency reported July 12.
The company manager had previously vowed to pay part of the due wages and benefits, but that has not been done yet.
The workers of numerous privately-held companies in Iran frequently go on strike for not having their rights granted.
Some 1000 workers of Safa Rolling and Pipe Mills Co. went on strike in early February.
Also, last June some 5000 mine workers in the city of Bafq in south eastern Yazd province continued their strike for some 40 days.
