Technical problem forces plane’s urgent landing in Iran

Araz News: An Iranian airplane traveling to the country’s capital city of Tehran from southwestern city of Ahwaz flew back after experiencing technical problems.

The airplane made an urgent landing in Ahwaz airport minutes after taking off, Iran ‘s YJC news agency reported July 8.

The Boeing MD- type airplane belongs to Iran ‘s Zagros airlines.

Reportedly a failure in one of the plane’s engines after taking off from the runway with a very high angle forced the pilot to announce emergency condition and return to Ahwaz airport.

It was also reported that the plane faced a failure in closing the plane’s wheels.

Iran has suffered a series of airplane crashes, blamed on its aging aircraft and poor maintenance.

In the latest incident an Iranian passenger plane crashed last August moments after takeoff from the Mehrabad Airport in Iran. Thirty-seven people, including six children, lost their lives on the spot while two others died in a Tehran hospital. Nine others suffered serious burns leaving several in critical condition.

Western sanctions prevent Iran from updating its US aircrafts and make it difficult to get European spare parts or planes. The country has come to rely on Russian aircraft, many of them Soviet-era planes.
