Araz News:  An Iranian university teacher claims that Urmia Lake has been dried intentionally as a part of Iran Nuclear Project. Urmia Lake, which is the biggest lake of South Azerbaijan, is gasping its life out. According to the statement of the experts and local authorized, if this lake dries completely, people living that area will have to immigrate, and South Azerbaijan will be shaken by salt storms. The fact that this lake has been dried intentionally caused strong reactions from the local people, and South Azerbaijani Turks have been uttered their objections with different ways.

According to a South Azerbaijani university teacher, this lake has been dried intentionally by Iran Government as a part of Iran Nuclear Project. That teacher, who does not want to give his/her name because of safety problems, expressed that salt and the other ruins are being gathered up every day. After they are brought to the Binab Nuclear Facility, Uranium is produced with these materials.

Although Germany and Japan governments stated several times that they could help about the situation of Urmia Lake, Iran government avoided a serious attempt about it.

Urmia Lake is a salt lake, located in the northwest of Iran, between West Azerbaijan and East Azerbaijan. It is the biggest lake of Iran, the second biggest salt lake in the world. It has 5,200 km² acreages and its deepest area is approximately 16 meters. Tabriz is the biggest zone of occupation on the coasts of this lake. Not taking the advantage of the lake for the agricultural activities, ignoring the environmental dangers while choosing the agricultural zones, building numerous barrage, cause the decrease of the water of the lake each day, and naturally, drying. As a result of Iran government’s wrong administrations, which are intentionally, 80 % of the lake has been dried, and still, it is drying while you are reading these lines. If nobody takes any precaution, 30 gigatons of salt will occur, the area will be without any people, and it will cause drought, which is a huge disaster.
