Why isn’t West concerned of Armenia’s weakness, but worried about Azerbaijan’s power?
Araz News:The paradoxical and illogical actions taken by Armenia’s government are no longer surprising. The crackdown on a rally held this morning by the hapless Armenian citizens is another evidence of this.
Armenians were protesting because of the electricity, but in the end they got water … coming out of the water cannons.
So, following the same logic, if people would’ve been protesting because of the heating system, they would have gotten tear gas instead?
And although there are more questions than answers regarding what happened, one thing is evident – Armenian citizens are tired. They are tired of miserable life, tired of their government, tired of their country’s dependence on others.
After all, electricity tariffs are raised by the distribution company Electric Networks of Armenia, which is a subsidiary of the Inter RAO UES. And the Inter RAO UES is a subsidiary of the RAO UES of Russia!
Did the Armenian leadership believe that the problems of the “big brother” will not affect it?
What will be the West’s response to all this? A large number of journalists have been detained during the rally. Hundreds of people have been brought to the police department, some were beaten, injured.
Today, the West is busy with the criminal elements in Azerbaijan, by declaring them “human rights activists”. The country’s government is groundlessly criticized for any actions. If a tailored foreign photographer sees how a police officer takes any person across the street, it will be trumpeted as the “dispersal of a rally.”
However, everything is much more difficult with the processes going on in Armenia. The large number of video and photos won’t allow to conceal the realities. A reaction will be necessary. But why is there confidence that it will be an evasive and short-term reaction? Because it will be so.
Currently, the West has only one goal in the Caucasus: to defame Azerbaijan. It is not concerned about Armenia’s weakness and dependence, but Azerbaijan’s strength and independence is another thing.
Yerevan has long been a part of the Russian sphere of influence, and if not the Ukrainian scenario, there is nothing for the West to do there. The fact that such a scenario is not applicable in Armenia is also clear. Then, in the first place, Nagorno-Karabakh will be returned and Azerbaijan in this case will not accessible for any of the world’s political players at all.
Today, Azerbaijan is a self-sufficient, independent country, which needs the West and Russia in political terms only to solve the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. In all other cases, the relationships are built only on the basis of mutual benefit and partnership.
In general, all that’s happening is very significant. While demonstrations of the dissatisfied people are dispersed in Armenia, people in Azerbaijan support athletes at the first European Games with joy on their faces. Sporting festival continues in Baku, and neither the West nor the East can do anything about it.
