Fire breaks out at Iran’s South Pars gas field
Araz News: A huge fire broke out at the phases 15 and 16 of Iran’s South Pars gas field.
The incident occurred in one of the warehouses of the field which belongs to a South Korean company.
The fire started May 9 evening, Kazem Moradi, an official in the governor’s office of Bushehr province said, adding the fire was taken under control at midnight.
He added that there were no casualties, and that the cause of fire is under investigation, Iran’s Fars news agency reported May 10.
South Pars is part of a wider gas field that is shared with Qatar. The larger field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran’s territorial waters (South Pars) in the Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers, referred to as the North Dome, are in Qatar’s territorial waters.
