Araz News: The vice president for executive affairs of Iran ’s ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2005-2013), has been indicted of embezzlement, said Baghaei’s attorney Ali Asghar Hosseini.

Baghaei’s indictment was related to paying bonuses illegally to some ministers as well as government officials, Iran ’s YJC quoted Hosseini as saying on June 21.

He further said that during the incumbency of Baghaei as the director of Ahmadinejad’s presidential office, 3 billion rials (about $90,000) was paid to a fund in which 16 government officials, including Baghaei, were members, in order to settle whole or part of their debts to the fund to the ceiling of 250 million rials (about $7,500).

The public prosecutor’s office has recognized Baghaei’s act as illegal and offensive and has indicted him of embezzlement, Hosseini said.

Baghaei was arrested on June 8.

In 2011, a court banned Baghaei from working for the government for four years. Baghaei was previously convicted of various legal violations committed when he was the head of the Organization for Cultural Heritage and Tourism, but he ignored that verdict.

Government spokesman Mohammad Bagher Nobakht said June 9 that when it took office, the administration of President Hassan Rouhani disclosed to the judiciary documents indicating illegal actions by the administration of Ahmadinejad.
