Araz News: The President of the Beekeepers Association of Ardabil has said that the city produces roughly 6 thousand tons of honey annually.

“Ardabil province ranks third in honey production throughout the country,” Said Fardin Safavi said in an interview.

Safavi stated that the Association of Beekeepers operate in four cities Pars Abad, Khalkhal, Meshkin Shahr and Ardabil. There are 315 thousand hives and 4829 active beekeepers in Ardabil city alone, according to the Association President.

Safavi expressed concern that the state authorities are not doing enough to support branding and export for Ardabil’s local honey industry, and added that investment is required for laboratories to create new products from honey wax.
