Iran Wants to Change the Turkish Name of the Hazar Sea
Iranian Mapping Agency President Masud Shafi said about the plan to change the Turkish name of Hazar.
On September 16, Caspian (Persian language of the Hazar) will be used in internal maps instead of Hazar”.
Masud Shafi said: Last year, by offering new maps from the Gulf, we were able to change the English maps to Iran maps half a century later. Naturally, the word ”Persian Gulf“ was also published in this important event. Now this map is being used abroad. I hope that this year Iran maps will not be used on Russian maps around the Caspian Sea. Our maps are approved in two locations and we look forward to the approval of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) for the other five stations. After that, we will implement a very important plan.
Throughout history, Turkish tribes lived in the Caspian Sea and many powerful states were established. Therefore, most of the geographical names reach the Caspian Sea while the surrounding area is Turkish. This sea is always referred to as the Hazar Sea, but recently, Persian racists have fought specifically against this name. The aim is to erase the Turkish identity and language from the history of Iran and Azerbaijan.
