Araz news: Hamid Farokhi was the south Azerbaijani protester, who set a fire to burn himself on Sunday, 19^th of April, 2015.

He was a vendor in Tabriz city. Because of dismantling of his stall by the officers, he set fire to burn himself. Due to his serious injuries, he died in the hospital of Sina in Tabriz.

Suicide is the latest weapon against injustice at the hands of someone who doesn’t have any other options. People, who commit suicide as a symbol of protest against injustice, cannot see any other ways for an effective protest. They are trying to notify people around them to this discrimination. “Self-immolation by burning oneself” is one of the most unusual method of suicide.

First, let’s review the comments of Emile Durkheim about suicide: (French sociologist, social psychologist and philosopher. April 15, 1858 – November 15, 1917)

Emile Durkheim believed that suicide is a social event, and can only be explained by other social events. He believed that the social force, which comes from outside, increases the rate of the suicide statistics. His studies are based on four types of suicide, according to the official statistics of the French Government.

1) Suicide on one’s own: it is characterized by merger and integration in society.

2) Suicide by an imposition of others: this type of suicide occurs when a person reaches an extreme situation.

3) Suicide caused by anomie: it occurs when the law and order in society are broken.

4) Appreciative suicide: it occurs when an individual reaches to an extreme situation by the encouraging of the other individuals of society.

Then we have a short view from 40 years ago by the Imperial Government of Iran:

In 1353, in order to organize depopulation in rural areas and other populated areas, “bureaucracy” decides to plan special offers in this area.

One of the top Iranian official said to an American tourist, ”there’s a lot of villages in rural areas, most of whom are inaccessible. We cannot  reach them to help.” It is hoped that many of these rural areas will lose their population.

After it is mentioned about all of these preliminary knowledge above,

Yunes Asakareh from Mahmareh, Hamid Farokhi from South Azerbaijan decided to set fire to burn themselves; perhaps they sent this message to their society that discrimination should not be considered as something usual.
